Like Professor Peter Schickele? Can you play the “Abassoonata” for Bassoon and Piano (S. 888) by P.D.Q. Bach?

So true! A close second would be classical clarinet. At least with jazz clarinet, you might be lucky if they say Benny Goodman.

All good clarinetists should know Benny. Or Artie Shaw. But Benny is better.

Church organist stumps a surprising number of people, too. My husband was asked to fill out a form and list his occupation. He put “organist.” The woman who took the form made a terrible face and a little squeal–she thought it was something medical having to do with internal organs.

I’m not old enough to have a career yet, but people always react with confusion when I even mention the word “bassoon.” Sometimes, they mistake for an oboe, which is crazy!!!
