How about the token female director? The one who spends her convention time dodging the awkward advances of all the male directors but still tries to be professional about it for fear of being shunned by the boys club.

Too bad they’re all men. Ahem.

I’m afraid there is a little bit of each of these guys – in ALL of us, especially the retirees.

Thanks for the warning! I’ll be going to my very first conference(similar to FMEA) in a few weeks, so I had no clue what to expect. NOW I do. It should be interesting, to say the least!

Your “it’s difficult to be a woman band director” comics would juxtapose nicely by this comic. (That’s a nice way of pointing out that the only sort of band director we don’t meet at your convention is female.)

I feel like my choir director is a combination of the Knows Everybody, the Stresser-Outer, and the Idol. Though it seems it takes a special kind of neuroses to be a good director, whether of choir or band or symphony. :3 So I guess I’m grateful?

Reminds me of my days in music education and our MENC conferences! I miss them…
