If I could bring back one corps from history that is not around anymore it would definitely be Star of Indiana. I never got to see them live as I didn’t see my first drum corps show until, you guessed it, 1994. But, within the last year they have probably been my most listened to corps. They’ve always been great but there’s something about them lately that is just great to listen to. Each show tends to have many classic moments to them.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the comic.
Also, there is a new poster in the Tone Deaf Store, so go check it out. It is a great one to have hanging up in your band room for easy reference for your students to know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to their intonation.

The Kansas City Star of Indiana Facts
Text Box: Zingali's new closer drill in 1991 originally bobmed when he had the corps start in one cross on the left side of the field and then end the show on the right side of the field spelling out the word 'cross'.
Text Box: One day a pregnant lady was atching a rehearsal and went into labor. Donnie VanDoren rushed over and successfully delivered the baby using his classic 'Breathe, scream bloody murder' delivery method.
Text Box: Their original uniform was supposed to be white but early in 1985 they shared a laundromat with the Boston Crusaders.
Text Box: Their 1993 show is one of the most controversial shows of all time, so it seemed appropriate that if Star had stuck around in 1994 their rumored show was going to be The Rite of Spring. More appropriate, though, would have been their 1995 show of Saved By the Bell: The College Years.
Text Box: The scaffolding crew had to arrive four days in advance of every rehearsal site to set up each staff member's personal elevator-accessed scaffolding towers, complete with hot tubs filled with rain water from Bora Bora.
Text Box: The original ending of the 1993 show had the color guard stabbing a pink elephant with their white poles.
Text Box: How did Star really get so much money? Two words: mulch fundraisers.
Text Box: When the mellophones first received thei music for the Roman Images show, they had to take an immediate ten minute break to go change their underwear.
Text Box: For their 1987 circus show, Star started the season with constant 25 point penalties show after show. It wasn't until mid-July that they decided to stop the portion of their program of unsuccessfully sawing audience members in half.
Text Box: Star didn't leave DCI because they placed second in 1993. It was because none of the vets we're coming back when it was announced their new cook crew was from Magic of Orlando.
