Are you a band director with a great story about band directing? Then we would like for you to tell it in our new book, compiled from stories by band directors from across the country. The working book title is WHAT MY MUSIC EDUCATION DEGREE NEVER TAUGHT ME and focuses on the crazy things that happen to band directors while on the job. We want to hear your funniest stories. We want to hear the stories that were painful to go through but are now great stories to laugh about. We basically want to hear about your experiences that you were never taught how to prepare for.
If you have one of these stories you can submit them in two separate ways:
1) By using the form below, or
2) By emailing us at [email protected] and submitting your story via a text document.
2) Partially Anonymous- Your story will say the author is anonymous, but you would like to have your name be included in the back of the book (that will list all of the contributing authors).
3) Fully Anonymous- Your story will say the author is anonymous, and your name will not be listed anywhere in the book, nor on the website for any promotional use.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
- When will the book be out? We are looking at a mid to late summer of 2012 release date.
- How long can I submit my stories? Up until February 1st, 2012.
- Can I submit more than one story? Yes!
- How long will the book be? Ideally it will be between 200-250 pages in length.
- If I submit a story will it definitely be used? No. We will read through all of the submissions and select only the ones we feel would best be suited for the book.
- Are there any length requirements for the stories being submitted? No. No story is too short. If we feel a story is too long we may edit it down to an appropriate length for the book.
- Will names be changed in the book? Yes. We don’t want to hurt anybody’s image that didn’t ask for it. We will not change the names if the story does not call for it, though. If there is ever any question there will be communication back and forth between the author and Tone Deaf.
